The last month of summer is upon us, and arguably, the quietest time of the sunny days with many candidates working out their notices ready to start in September. But that isn’t quite the case this year as this week alone 3 of the our Big 4 clients have been in touch with exciting growth strategies and big plans in areas such as Indirect Tax and Human Capital. What that means for FY 2014 is still a mystery as these growth strategies involve hires at every grade, but given the excellent recruitment drives this summer so far, we can all but assume that there will be some very busy (and competitive) times ahead for the specialists we place in Tax.

Our other areas of focus are also showing signs of continued growth. Although the Restructuring and Insolvency market can still be described as patchy we have placed a manager with a Big 4 firm this week as well as negotiating offers for directors and a number of Senior Managers. It appears that if you know where to look for insolvency jobs they are out there. Get in touch to talk about the market in more detail if you feel now is your time to move.

Pensions law and Employment law have been noticeably quiet this summer but the big players in the legal world are keen to see the right people with the right skills at the top end, as evidenced by some successful partner placements for us this year. Our specialists have been able to help some excellent client focussed Senior Associates find Partner positions so please do get in touch to talk in more depth.

Indirect Tax, as mentioned above, has been pushing the Assistant Manager title very aggressively and the majority of our clients are finding themselves fighting for the best people. Senior Manager and Director roles have also appeared, and the Big 4 are looking to bring on stars to grow the regional markets with a particular focus in Reading and Gatwick.

The Reward and Incentives market however is very much focussed on executive compensation. Any consultant with strong experience in EC will have a plethora of options before them in the city.

The quite month can be the perfect time to reflect, and with September earmarking another year for many of you at your current firms, please feel free to get in touch with us to explore ideas and options. Our recently introduced live chat feature of our website has proved to be an excellent way to ask one of our specialists any questions you have about roles or the market in a quick (and discreet!) manner - just click the pop up on the bottom right and fire questions at us!
